Services

Let the experts

at Skywalker Tree Care keep your trees healthy & happy.

If you live in the forested rural areas of Northern Idaho, wildfire is an annual possibility. We can provide valuable advice on reducing your exposure to wild fire. Arborist Michael has 18 years experience in the fire service: 7 years in a big city, and 11 years volunteering locally (9 years Asst. Chief). For many years, we were a vendor for the Bonfire (Bonner County) and Boundary FireSafe programs. In addition, we own a 2800 gallon Wildland Type II Water Tender which is used for contracting with the USFS. As you can see, we have the knowledge and experience necessary to advise wisely on fire risk and prevention.

Caution: When fires happen, it’s often extreme weather events which drive the fire. We can only provide advice to reduce, not eliminate the threat of fire to your home.

Arborist Michael also has an education background (B.S. Forestry) and experience in forest management. If you’re looking for sound advice on managing a small piece of forested land, give us a call. We don’t set up large scale logging projects. There are other companies which do this well.

Our Forest Management services include the following:

  • Stand improvement
  • Thinning
  • Insect and disease identification
  • Fuels reduction
  • Chipping
  • Brush piling
  • Trail construction and maintenance
  • Wildlife snag creation/recruitment

Tree lightning protection systems (TLPS) professionally installed can prevent damage to your tree if struck by lightning.

Proper care for your trees promotes growth, insect and disease resistance and overall vitality. We offer:

  • Mulching
  • Avoiding construction injuries
  • Consultation
  • Planning
  • Tree protection barriers
  • Access
  • Post construction
  • Treating trees damaged by construction
  • Insect and disease diagnosis

Trees young and old can be trimmed for function, structure and beauty.

Pruning young trees: Proper pruning of young trees will help to develop strong structure and good form. Done well, future problems and maintenance may be reduced.

Pruning mature trees:

  • Deadwood removal
  • Clearance for structures, roads, satellite reception, etc.
  • Raising lower crown level
  • Risk reduction
  • View Clearing
  • Crown thinning
  • Fruit tree pruning

Sometimes, a tree needs to come down. We can remove a tree safely from the tightest of locations.  This also includes the removal of large, broken or dead limbs, leaning trees, branches with unsafe (split) attachments, and the installation of dynamic or static support systems. A risk assessment should be performed first to determine the treatment needed.

We can chip and haul the brush from your job or we can leave the chips there for your landscaping needs. Price-wise the cheapest is if you deal with the brush and wood yourself. If you want us to chip it and haul it all away, it will cost a bit more.

We can grind stumps of any diameter down to approximately 6 – 10 inches below grade.
